The company has over 6,500 employees worldwide and is today owned by the BMW, Audi, Daimler and Intel consortium. The company was once founded by Navteq and later taken over by Nokia.

Under the Social Support Act (Wmo), citizens can use special transport. There are differences in implementation and carrier per municipality. There are standards in the market and statutory rates to which municipalities and transporters are bound, but quality requirements in municipalities' procurement program vary considerably.

Taxis arrive late, they double or the drivers do not sufficiently help the passengers. These are just a few comments where the opposition parties are spinning politically and the local press all too often sees enough to put the implementation of the Wmo transport in a negative light, a question of scoring the right target group.

Many complaints have to do with the expectations of the traveler and lack of good communication from the government about what can be expected from the transport within its Wmo contract. Carriers also regularly have to deal with complaints that they cannot influence, but that have to do with the client and the policy.

Recently we could read in the Dagblad van het Noorden that complaints came from people who would normally sit in the car for 20 minutes for a ride but took much longer because the taxi took several people at the same time. Perhaps the journalist had not really delved into the transport conditions of the Wmo transport and assumed that this strange situation was a mistake by the transporter.

No transport company wants to 'bully' the traveler

The Asser PvdA had received 48 complaints after it had opened a hotline two months ago where travelers from the Wmo transport could report problems. That is not even a complaint per day, but every complaint is one too many.

With the knowledge that some control centers carry out thousands of journeys per day, the number of complaints is minimal and transport companies do their utmost to properly transport the traveler within the agreed rules of the Wmo transport. Wmo transport is a special market with a special target group that requires extra attention.

NS TRAIN REPLACEMENT BUS TRANSPORT

People may not immediately think of the touring sector but secretly NS is a big customer for the coach market. Dutch Railways uses replacement buses if trains cannot run. In 2017, for example, NS used more than 22,000 buses for work and nearly 9,000 buses for disruptions.

Pitane Mobility is developing better travel information and management systems for this sector in order to more accurately inform travelers about the exact departure and arrival times of their buses when working.

The Eindhoven-based company previously concluded an agreement with OV9292 for the integration of its information system and now, since the arrival of Pitane Mobility Rio, it has been offering complete software for control centers in train replacement bus transport such as Transvision.

Many uninsured taxis and a bare chicken cannot be picked when claiming personal injury

To prevent you from getting into an uninsured taxi, you can of course ask the driver if he or she has liability insurance. That can be an uncomfortable conversation, writes Ronald Strater and you have to wait and see if the truth is told.

According to the Brabants Dagblad, 118 taxis are driving around uninsured in Brabant, slightly more than 3 percent of the total number of registered taxis in the province. Not a shocking figure, but an accident with or in an uninsured taxi can have unpleasant consequences. "Then you have a problem," says personal injury lawyer Ruud Voorvaart, but how do you prevent this?

The Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Act (WAM) stipulates that a motor vehicle must be insured if a registration certificate has been issued for the motor vehicle. A motor vehicle that is not being used must also be insured. Not being insured is punishable by the WAM.

If, in the event of an accident, you cannot claim anything from the taxi driver, there is, in addition to all other misery, a financial safety net. “Then you can submit a claim to the Motor Traffic Guarantee Fund. Trip computer taxi remains problem file for government and branch organization

The sector is confronted with the validity of the safety certificates of all BCT cards, because, as has been known for a long time, the validity expires on 20 March 2020. In addition, the validity of the driver card and the entrepreneur card expires on March 20, 2020.

A digital certificate from PKI government guarantees the reliability of information exchange via usb or internet on the basis of Dutch legislation. Digital certificates are an indispensable link in secure internet traffic. It is proof of identity of an on-board computer or IT system, but has a limited lifespan.

Replacing system cards is an expensive operation. 

The Ministry has not yet issued a guarantee about the validity of those cards and who will pay for the costs if they have to be replaced before 20 March 2020. The sector believes that they should not bear these costs.

As said, the costs for replacing the system cards (chips) are high. According to the KNV, a conservative estimate comes out at € 7.7 million, excluding the costs of the manufacturers. Manufacturers themselves have informed KNV that they will pass on their costs to the taxi companies, so that the total amount will be well in excess of € 10 million.

What are PKI government certificates?

PKIoverheid certificates are digital certificates that must meet the requirements of the government, for example with regard to the issuing process and the connection to a root certificate (certificate hierarchy). They are the standard for securing electronic (government) services.

Both the government and companies can use PKIoverheid certificates. Professional certificates are only intended for professionals with a so-called Recognized Profession.

Since March 2018, the validity period of PKIoverheid server certificates has been maximized to two years. All other types of PKIoverheid certificates continue to have the same validity, such as 5 years for personal certificates.
